Breaking News!
The Down River 5K will be a certified course!
USATF Course #NY16015JJ
Working together with Jeff John from Buffalo, we have put together a nice two loop course entirely within Fort Niagara State Park that starts and finishes in the main parking lot at Fort Niagara Beach/Pool.

Please join us on Saturday June 25, 2016 for the Down River 5K Run. The Family & Friends Down Syndrome Association of Niagara Inc. announces their first annual Down River 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk/Roll for their Miles of Care initiative. The initiative is to afford transportation for Parent/Caregivers and their child or children born with Down Syndrome who are currently living in the Erie-Niagara County region who require lifesaving surgery or medical treatment outside of New York State. The Miles of Care Program is designed to reach out to these families and financially assist them with their "out of state" transportation costs to and from the health care facility of their choice.

Both the 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk/Roll will start and finish in the main parking lot at Fort Niagara Beach. The newly designed and certified course is fast and flat and offers scenic views of Lake Ontario, Old Fort Niagara, the Lower Niagara River and more!

She currently attends Christian Academy of WNY as a third grade student. She enjoys music, dancing, basketball, reading, and spending time with her family and friends and her two chocolate labs Mocha and Sully.

Andrea is now a 28 year old ‘champion of tender hearts’ survivor of 2 open heart surgeries to correct a complete Atrio-Ventricular Septal Defect and valve restorations at Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.  She graduated from Lewiston Porter CSD in 2007 and is currently employed by Saint Mary’s hospital. She is working part-time as a clerical assistant in a primary care medical office and enjoys volunteering weekly at the Lewiston Library and Our Lady of Angels Association Office of Niagara University. Andrea thoroughly enjoys her life and is proud of her accomplishments. She loves music, singing, dining out, dancing, exercise, bowling, movies and live theatre, spending time with friends and family and creating her daily ‘Happy-Cards’ to mail to her friends . She is a very caring, generous and thoughtful young lady who is always willing to help others find happiness.  It has been said by many “to know Andrea is to love her”. Donovan is truly an outdoorsman full of life, smiles and energy any 5 year could offer!  Although he lives large and well with a small Ventricular Septal defect that is monitored by Buffalo Cardiology of WNY, he and his family cope with the demands of managing his diet and nutrition via a feeding tube due to his gastrointestinal issues and multiple food allergens since 10 months of age, which is not uncommon in children living with DS.  Donovan loves music, books, playing ball, and playing with his Kindergarten friends and his brother Nolan. He attends Kindergarten at Allegany Limestone School.

Lyla is an energetic and entertaining 5 year old young lady living and loving life every day! She is a reigning princess of hearts of hearts! When she was 7 months old she faced and conquered the demands of open-heart surgery at Children’s Hospital of Boston to repair multiple Atrial-Septal defects of her heart. Today she shows us her love for learning everything she can! She loves music, dance, art, gymnastics, and is attending Kindergarten at Lewiston Porter.
