The Family & Friends Down Syndrome Association of Niagara is excited to bring back the Down River Run 5K to Western New York!

Who are The Family & Friends Down Syndrome Association of Niagara? The Family & Friends Down Syndrome Association of Niagara serves as an advocacy, resource and support group to new and expectant parents and individuals born with Down syndrome. Our groups goal is to establish a business and open a local cafe as soon as can be, owned and operated by individuals with Down syndrome. Individuals with Down syndrome make valuable employees and are ready to work but lack opportunity. We as a group of parent/family/child advocates will continue to work towards making this possible and with your help this can be a dream come true for everyone! Every step you take will help advance us in this direction.

START/FINISH
This year the race will start and finish in the south parking lot located just inside the south entrance to the park off of Main Street. 5K participants will complete 2 outer loops (VIEW USATF MAP) and then head to the finish line. Those of you who sign up for the 1.5 mile walk will complete one outer loop (VIEW 1.5M MAP) before heading to the finish line. There will be one water station setup that 5K runners will pass twice on their run.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until the start of each race. Packet pickup and race day registration will take place at the start/finish location from 8:30am until the start of each race. Official Down River Run race shirts are guaranteed to everyone who registers by Friday May 31, 2024 at 9am. After that date, a small quantity of exrera shirts will be ordered and distributred on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone.

If you prefer to mail in your registration, please download the race waiver below and mail to the address shown. Paper applications must be received prior to Friday May 31, 2024 for guaranteed shirt.

VIRTUAL OPTION
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the Virtual Race option and you get to choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K during the month of June. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 6/1/24 and ending on 6/30/24. Race organizers will automatically mail out your shirt after the race.

PARKING
There is plenty of parking available in the lot adjacent to the start/finish line inside the park.

POST RACE CELEBRATION & AWARDS CEREMONY
Participants will enjoy light food and snacks after the race. There will be music at the finish line and the awards ceremony will take place at approximately 11:00am or once all of the 5K runners have completed the race.

AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female 5K finishers. Age group medals will be presented to the top 3 male and female 5K runners in each of the following age groups below. Custom finisher certificates showing race stats and age group rank can also be downloaded and printed after the race via the RESULTS button at the top of this page.

14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
There will be no refunds. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion or offer a virtual alternative if necessary.

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Professional timing & finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
